Sophie Voon bridal, one of our favorites!

Voon has long been an essential shopping destination for the discerning
Wellington lady with its quirky and girlish yet sophisticated signature
style.  7 years ago Voon saw there was a gap in the market for bridal wear
that also captured this vision and the Sophie Voon Bridal label was
launched.

" We realized that our Voon customers who normally wore stylish unique
clothes were having trouble finding wedding attire that captured the
essence of who they were on one of the most important days of their
lives." says Voon. " Our dresses are designed from a fashion background so
are always flattering as we know what suits a body shape. We have a
conscious design aesthetic that is completely opposite from the 'costume'
look of some bridal wear. We have a vintage feel but our look always has a
fashion edge to it which makes it contemporary."

The Sophie Voon Bridal range which includes not only wedding gowns but
also bridesmaid, flower girl and mother of the bride outfits, has been so
popular that they have recently expanded their shop by knocking through
the wall in to the next door space and have created a specialised bridal
boutique.

A luxurious sanctuary for the bride-to-be, the new shop is a girly
paradise with lush crimson carpet, french style white counter, specially
commissioned chinoiserie style feature wall by Mary Adams Design and, of
course - the best part, rows of heart stopping stunningly beautiful
dresses.

But it is not only luxury that Voon has in mind, it is also important to
her that her label is made in an ethical manner that does not compromise
on quality.

The dresses are available in ethically traded silk from the Takeo province
in Cambodia about 40kms from Phnom Penh. Woman weavers work from their
rural homes making an income for their families using traditional skills
making silk for a modern international market. This silk is also for sale
in the Sophie Voon Bridal boutique.

All the wedding dresses are lovingly crafted with care in the Voon
workroom a few doors up the road from the shop in central Willis St.

Voon also donates $100 from each wedding dress to Empower Asia, a charity
which runs safe houses across Asia providing at risk children a home and
education away from the dangers of child prostitution and extreme poverty.

Also for sale are dazzling array of jewelry treasures commissioned by Voon
from Rahab. Rahab is located in the heart of the red light district of
Bangkok  and helps women who have been exploited by teaching them jewelry
making.

Unlike other bridal shops Voon does not charge to try on the wedding gowns
and no appointment is necessary. You are welcome to pop in at any time and
the experienced, friendly staff will ensure you find the perfect wedding
dress style for your perfect day!
